Kensington Boulevard Historic District Walking Tour to be held on October 12, 2024 The Allen County Genealogical Society of Indiana in conjunction with the Allen County Public Library Genealogy Center will be holding a free walking tour on October 12, 2024, from 10:30AM-12PM. The tour will be led by Elizabeth Hodges of the Genealogy Center, accompanied by our past president, Michael Vorndran.
The group will meet at Michael’s home, 2222 Kensington Blvd, at 10:30 of the morning of the event.
A new bookstore opened today in the North Anthony area. Sunbound Books describes itself as a locally owned, independent bookstore “creating space for women’s stories’ and interests.”. The store features women authors and children’s books in a variety of genres, with a focus on the literary fiction, mystery/thriller, romance, memoir/biography, and travel categories.
The opening featured new releases by popular authors Sally Rooney, Liane Moriarty, and Rainbow Rowell. Along with new books, it will also feature branded, local, and nationwide independent women-owned creator gifts and merchandise.
Free Neighborhood Appreciation Party The North Anthony Area Association will be holding a Free Neighborhood Appreciation Party on Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 1PM-4PM, at Lakeside Park Pavilion #1 (the pavilion in the center of the park, with the ramp that descends into the water for ice skating, next to the bridge and tennis courts). Access is from Vermont Avenue, with parking available in front of the pavilion.
The event will feature food, children’s crafts, live music, a raffle, and we hope to have a face painter as well.

On Sunday, September 8th, Fort Wayne residents get free admission to 25 of Fort Wayne’s museums and attractions during “Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown.”

The new Sunrise Mart opened on June 19, and is serving customers at 3105 North Anthony. For the first time since the closure of Scott’s Food & Pharmacy in 2014, North Anthony has a grocery store at Anthony & Crescent.1
The new Sunrise Mart is located in what was previously the pharmacy building for Scott’s Food & Pharmacy.2 Sunrise Mart carries an assortment of fresh and packaged foods, including fresh fruits, meat and vegetables, along with fresh local milk from Kuehnert Dairy.
St Joe Community Church, 2900 North Anthony Boulevard, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, is holding a block party on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 11AM-2PM. There will be food, games, face painting, and live music.
The North Anthony Neighborhood Association is meeting on Monday, July 22, 2024 at The Oh Five Scoop Shoppe, 1937 East State Boulevard, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, at 7PM.
We will be voting on three bylaw amendments proposed at our last meeting, so please plan to attend, and please make sure that your dues are current if you plan to vote.
NAAA Dumpster Day This Weekend This weekend, the North Anthony Area Association will host a Dumpster Day. Maybe this is an opportunity to get rid of some of the things that didn’t sell, or maybe you need some inspiration to clean out your house a bit.
This event will take place on Saturday, June 24th from 9a-12p on Niagra Drive. It is open to members and residents of the North Anthony Area Association.
Introduction On June 7, 2024, City Utilities sent letters to all property owners in the affected area, notifying them of upcoming water main replacement on North Anthony A Zoom meeting was scheduled for Thursday, June 20, 2004 at 6PM with Project Manager Austyn Smedberg The meeting was attended by President Joseph Brennan; the following are his notes from the meeting: Process Old water mains will be replaced all along North Anthony Directional boring will be used, which requires far less excavation New pipe must be fed through the bore hole as it is drilled This necessitates pre-positioning the pipe above ground to be fed into the hole as it is bored Some excavation still needed, approximately every 500 feet for boreholes Excavation is also needed for reconnecting water lines to each home Old pipe will abandoned in place after disconnection Disruptions Traffic will be disrupted as pipe is positioned above ground on Anthony There will be an approximate four-hour interruption to water service for each household as new connections are made Contractor will repair all pavement that is broken, grass that needs replacement, etc.

We will be voting on the following two bylaw changes proposed by President Joseph Brennan, and one proposed by the membership and board at our May 20 Regular Meeting, a motion to add a vote on them to the agenda for July having been approved at the May meeting.

We are meeting on the third Monday of the month, instead of the fourth as is customary, due to a conflict the following week with the Memorial Day holiday, occasioned by May 2024 have only four Mondays, instead of the usual five.

Mark your calendars! The North Anthony Area Association annual garage sale will be taking place the weekend of June 16-18 daily.
We have just learned that neighborhood business Lakeside Studio, LLC, located at 1416 North Anthony, will be closing. The owner, Barbara Flye, plans to continue doing photography; only the studio rental business is closing.
The owner is selling decor, shelving, furniture, seasonal decór and other items from the studio. Visit the link to see what is for sale and contact her if you are interested in making a purchase.

We have just learned that the Second Annual Northside Neighborhood Chili Cookoff scheduled for 6:30 PM, February 27, 2023 at Hop River Brewing Company regrettably has been cancelled. We hope to see everyone next year.

The City of Fort Wayne Department of Community & Economic Development is conducting a Historic Northeast Neighborhood Survey, which covers the Northside, North Anthony Area, and Forest Park neighborhood associations. Please follow this link to the survey.
Your responses will guide the city in updating its neighborhood plan. The survey will be open for three months beginning last Wednesday, July 20. The North Anthony Area currently leads the three neighborhood associations in response rate.
The North Anthony Area Association annual garage sale is taking place today and tomorrow, from 9AM to 4PM. If you are participating and would like your address published, head on over to the association Facebook group to note your participation. Please remember to remove signs from the right of way after the sale is over.

The North Anthony Neighborhood Association meeting originally scheduled for today, Monday, January 24, 2022 at The Oh Five Scoop Shop has been postponed due to inclement weather. The meeting will now take place on Monday, January 31, at the Oh Five Scoop Shop, 1937 East State Boulevard, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, at 7PM. The elections originally scheduled for this evening will take place at that time.

Shwe Karen Malay Now Open A new store called Shwe Karen Malay, LLC has opened at 3432 North Anthony Boulevard, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 (next to Willie’s Cafe in the North Anthony Shopping Center). The store deals in Thai & Myanmar wholesale products.
Moore Unique Styles Now Open A new salon called Moore Unique Styles has opened at 3215 North Anthony Boulevard, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 (near the new Dairy Queen at North Anthony and Crescent).

The new Dairy Queen Grill & Chill on North Anthony is open and serving customers. Here are some photos taken earlier this evening. For the first time since the closure of Atz Ice Cream Shoppe in 2014, there will be a true ice cream parlor on the boulevard. This will also help fill the gap left by the demise of the Dairy Queen on Parnell Avenue, which was only open in summertime.
On or about September 8, 2021, Ann Lue’s on North Anthony was damaged by vandal, who broke windows costing an estimated $3,500-4,000 to repair. The windows were visibly broken for several weeks, but they appear to have been repaired recently. There is an active GoFund me for $3,500 to raise money for the owner, Shawnda Davis.
