FAQs
Here are some frequently asked questions about the North Anthony Area Association.
Am I eligible to be a member of the North Anthony Area Association?
To be a member of the North Anthony Area Association, you must live within our association boundaries, and you must pay us annual dues of $20.00.
Please check our map to see if you live in our service area. If you do, please click the “Join” button or follow this link to join.
Can I just send you money, even though I am ineligible to join your association?
Yes, we will gladly take your money. Unfortunately, we still cannot permit you to vote in our elections.
Please note that we are not a 501(c)3 organization, and there is no tax benefit to donating to us.
Can I vote in your elections if I am not an eligible, dues-paying member?
No, you cannot. It is impermissible under our bylaws.
I understand you are not a compulsory HOA, but are there other types of restrictive covenants in your neighborhood?
Yes. Most of the additions that comprise our historic districts contained deed restrictions for the houses built in them, generally relating to the distance between the house and any additional structures added to the property, and the lot lines. To our knowledge, the Kensington Park addition has the most restrictive covenants, and the Loidl and Behr addition (the northernmost homes of the association, on Anthony and Crescent) are the least restrictive.
Certain pre-existing homes and later additions may be exempt from these restrictions, but are still subject to local zoning laws. In addition, some property owners have added subsequent restrictions to their deeds. Please consult with the Allen County Recorder’s Office to verify the deed restrictions placed on your property.
Must I join the North Anthony Area Association if I live within its boundaries?
No. We are a voluntary membership organization, not a compulsory one like a homeowner association, which is mandated through deed covenants. You are under no obligation to join us, but we hope that you will.
